CZECH REPUBLIC
Without doubt, the most popular destination in Czech Republic is its capital, Prague.
Set on the banks of River Viatava, Prague has a strong fairy tale appeal. Its gothic spires, ancient churches, and enchanting medieval cobbled streets create the perfect romantic city break.
Dining
The Czech diet consists of soups, meat, game, potatoes, and dumplings. But there are good international eateries, too. Pubs are so much a part of the local life here that food is often just an accompaniment to the beer.
Culture
No trip to Prague is complete without crossing the 13th century, statue-studded Charles bridge, visiting the city castle, roaming the huge Old Town Square flanked by beautiful baroque and gothic buildings that light up at night. The Old Town Hall's Astronomical Clock, or Orloj, has been parading its medieval saint statuettes from 8am to 8pm almost non-stop since 1490, and never fails to wow the crowds.
Shopping
International luxury shops - Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and co. are found on the line tree-lined Parizska Trida. While Wenceslas Square is the largest and busiest shopping street in Prague. More one-off shops can be found in the Old Town.
Getting around
Prague is compact enough to explore on foot, and offers several guided walking and bus tours. Buses, metro trains and trams are efficient and cheap. The Prague Pass offers discounts and free entry to attractions, as well as 48 hour free public transport.
