Orlando is a city built on theme parks. Lots of them. Disney set the example back in 1971 when it established Walt Disney World, and now incorporates a further five parks. Three SeaWorld and two Universal Studios® all add to the city's reputation as the family entertainment capital of the world.
Most tourists who fly into Orlando don't stay in downtown Orlando itself but in neighbouring International Drive, Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista - each peppered with scenic lakes and golf courses.
Hanging out with the Sunshine State's most famous resident - Mickey Mouse - might top many a child's wish list. While a full slate of action-packed experiences mean that grown-ups have an unforgettable time too. Wineries, zoos, museums, safaris, hot air ballooning, luxury spas, shopping malls - you truly are spoilt for choice.
Between them, Orlando's wealth of attractions draw an estimated 50 million visitors every year, however not everywhere is crowded. For example, SeaWorld's sister park, the 30-acre Discovery Cove, only admits a maximum of 1,000 visitors a day. So while the kids splash about with the dolphins, you can feel as though you've slipped away to a private island.
