Unique desert resort
3 to 1 staff to guest ratio
Award-winning signature spa
24 hour personalised service
An enchanting Bedouin style encampment set in a desert conservation reserve, this special resort has won numerous international awards for its service, facilities and sensitivity to its breathtaking environment. Its dunes are traversed by rare Arabian oryx and gazelles; in the distance looms Hajar Mountain.
Al Maha offers a selection of intimate tented suites, atmospherically furnished with luxurious materials, antiques and native artefacts. The 37 Bedouin suites have each a decked temperature controlled pool, Bulgari products in spacious bathrooms and custom made king-size beds - as do the two Royal Suites except the latter are super king-sized. Larger again, the pair of Emirates Suites have residential quarters for guests' private staff. The Presidential Suite is similar but on an even grander scale.
During the day, guests can join guided safaris and horseback or four-wheeldrive trips - with camels - into the romantic sandy wilderness. Overlooking the shared pool is the superb, semi-sunken spa. The atmosphere at Al Maha is especially magical at dinnertime when traditional dishes are cooked beneath the stars over charcoal fires to the sound of Arabic music and the aroma of coffee and mint tea. The three-to-one ratio of staff to guests ensures everyone receives exceptional service.

Guests can choose from a five course table d'hôte menu featuring Middle Eastern and international fare, as well as developing one's own menu with the chefs for a special occasion. The dining room opens onto a veranda, or restaurant deck, where the fine dining experience is memorably enhanced by the vastness of the surrounding landscape.
Bar - Offering spectacular views of the desert, Al Maha's bar deck is a wonderful place for sundowners. Inside, the bar is richly decorated with beautiful artwork and antiques.
Lounge - The lounge and its veranda are places for meeting, reading or simply watching the indigenous animals gather at the nearby waterhole. Should guests wish to enjoy an informal snack or meal in these relaxing surroundings, it can easily be arranged.
On the one hand, the resort offers an elegant lifestyle, your own private pool, fine food and wine, a signature Spa and personilised service, and on the other, even more precious in todays world, a rare sanctuary of pristine beauty, tranquility and peace. Guests staying at Al Maha are entitled to two complimentary on-site activities during their stay. Traditional desert pursuits, such as falconry, camel treks, horse riding and archery, recall a former way of life. For sheer excitement, an outing in a rugged four-wheel drive vehicle cannot be beaten. In contrast, guided nature walks offer a quieter and more informative way to experience the desert.
