BACK

Amandari, Ubud

Amandari lies in sacred central Bali, near the creative community of Ubud, which seems to have inspired the resort's cultural spirit and indeed its very structure - the resort resembles a Balinese village.

This authentic architectural depiction of the neighbouring indigenous lifestyle greets guests as they pass through the stone gateways to Amandari's 30 thatched roof teak and coconut wood suites. River stone walkways pass around them. All suites offer a garden courtyard, living area and wall-sized sliding glass doors that open on three sides to the lush surroundings. Bathrooms feature twin vanities and dressing areas, plus, behind a glass door, an outdoor sunken marble bath. Walled but entirely open to the sky, the tub is framed by large stone planters of ferns and heliconia. Suites come as a single-storey or two-level duplex. The duplexes have a queen-size, four-poster bed on a mezzanine level, while the single-storey suites offer a king-size bed.

At the end of a winding river stone path, Amandari Spa offers two open-air treatments rooms, a beauty room and marble steam room. Surrounded by a lotus pond, it seems to float peacefully above the water.

The restaurant and bar both overlook the swimming pool which lies close to the lip of the gorge.

ROOM TYPES

Rooms

Amandari is designed in the same style as the charming local village in which it is located. While the 21st century has been so well accommodated with subtle necessity and in sympathetic style, Amandari's charm and luxury is bedded in its authentic architectural depiction of the neighbouring indigenous lifestyle. The palette of honey, cream and white on simple fine lines, with handwoven batiks, is soothing, relaxing and appealing. Balinese-style stone gateways front Amandari's 30 walled, thatched-roof suites, each with a private garden courtyard. Suites come either as a single-storey or two-level duplex. The duplexes have a queen-size, four-poster bed on a mezzanine level while the single-storey suites offer a king-size bed.
