BACK

Amanpuri, Phuket

Amanpuri opened 20 years ago, the first born of the Aman ‘family’ of deluxe resorts. This peaceful prodigy takes pride of place on Phuket, in a secluded coconut grove on a peninsula leading down to a crescent shaped beach overlooking the alluring Andaman Sea. A mixture of villas and pavilions are interspersed within a mature coconut plantation. Epitomising Thai chic, they’re connected by a series of elevated walkways leading to the cool reception area and long midnight-blue pool. Pavilions 105 and 103 enjoy the best views.

Adjacent to the resort, almost hidden by coconut palms, are 30 villas - many with ocean front settings; all with a live-in maid and cook. Each has 2 - 6 bedrooms, living and dining areas and a private pool. Set just behind the beach is Naoki, Amanpuri's newest restaurant serving Naoki Okumura's original French Kaiseki - the best of French cooking married with Japanese artistry. From late November to April, weather and tide permitting, evening torchlit barbecues are held on the beach.

The Aman Spa features six treatment rooms, sauna and steam room. Complimentary yoga sessions are offered at day break in the open-sided sala. Amancruises provides guests with exclusive use of its 20 cruise and sailing vessels to explore the surrounding islands.

ROOM TYPES

Rooms

The sense of ‘belonging' while staying at Amanpuri is, in part, due to the authentic and sympathetically conceived architecture exposing swooping multi-tiered roof-lines, understated, but deeply comfortable, locally inspired air-conditioned interiors with outside salas or private dining decks. Pavillions are connected by a series of elevated walkways, which lead to the cool and expansive reception area, the long exotic slate-blue pool, reflecting statuesque palms and tropical skies and the sweeping stone steps down to the beach. The gentle fragrance of the ubiquitous frangipani flower gently permeates the soft sea air.

Garden Pavillion

There are twenty-five garden pavilions which are interspersed among the coconut palms. All Amanpuri's pavilions feature an outdoor sala, a king-size bed, separate bath and shower, refrigerator with minibar, electronic safe, stereo system, IDD services and air-conditioning. Wireless broadband connections are available in all resort accommodation and public areas.
