Set in magnificent Mediterranean gardens that border prestigious private golf courses, the ArabellaSheraton Golf Hotel Son Vida resembles a grand Spanish country home, with sweeping terraces, verandahs and elegant arches. Guests can choose between seven different types inviting country-house style rooms and suites, 93 in total, set over two floors. Dining truly is fine here - the Michelin-starred Plat d'Or is said to be one of the best restaurants in the Balearics. Keen golfers will want to spend time on the adjoining 18-hole Son Vida and Son Quint Muntaner courses nearby. Others, meanwhile, like to unwind at the Arabella Spa, with its steam room, saunas, Turkish bath and state-of-the-art gym. When not on the tennis courts or splashing around the three outdoor pools, three to eight year olds can be entertained for hours - and have lunch - at the complimentary Kids Club, open Monday to Friday all year round. Under threes are welcome when with an adult. Babysitting can be booked for a small fee.

Illetas, Playa Puerto Portals and Palma Nova are the nearest beaches, just a few kilometres away. Just as close is the islands' capital Palma De Mallorca. Go for the magnificent Cathedral, charming old quarter (especially lively at night), designer shops and the amazing Almudaina Palace.
