Forming part of North Island’s Hawke’s Bay - one of New Zealand’s most important wine districts - Cape Kidnappers has a rich history, beginning with its discovery by Captain James Cook in 1769. The eponymous lodge or The Farm as it’s better known - is set on a 6,000 acre sheep and cattle farm on the edge of steep cliffs that plunge dramatically into the waiting waves.
24 rural chic and spacious cottages open to large porches overlooking a silencing panorama of the farm, 71-par golf course and Pacific Ocean. Each has over-sized bathtub with twin vanities and a walk-in closet. The four largest suites are part of the main lodge, which houses an inviting lounge and a pair of dining spaces. The owner’s cottage offers four-bedrooms with fireplaces, a large living room with stone fireplace, an open kitchen and outdoor Jacuzzi. Otherwise, there’s the 50 foot shared heated pool outside. Families tend to prefer the hilltop suites.
Highlights of the spa are the refined couple’s suite and the jade and crystal massage. All sorts of other activities are here to experience, from tours of local wineries and Art Deco sites to unforgettable hikes and helicopter excursions.

Each cottage suite has room controlled air conditioning, high speed wireless internet, remote control flatscreen LCD TV, DVD, CD player with iPod connection, safe, fully stocked complimentary mini bar*, walk in closet, spacious bathroom with heated towel rack, separate WC and shower stalls, oversized bath tub, and twin vanities. 180 degree panoramic views of the farm, golf course and Pacific Ocean are enjoyed from each suite's private balcony. For families who enjoy the sun, there are golden sand beaches, water theme parks, and crystal clear rivers. Swim with dolphins, visit the National Aquarium of New Zealand or see the largest mainland gannet colony in the world. For the thrill seeker there's plenty to fuel your adrenaline - from jet-boating, hot air ballooning, surfing, caving and paragliding to sailing and windsurfing.
As well as wonderful golf on one of the best golf courses in the world, scenic walks, excellent fly fishing and hunting are popular pastimes.
Golf course - The Classic Woolshed Style Club House captures the feel and history of the property and offers all the luxuries and services of a grand estate. The men's and ladies locker rooms allow guests to store their personal belongings in secure lockers and offers all the amenities one would need during your visit.
The Farm' as it is called, promises to be a five star experience like no other. Cape Kidnappers is set on a 6,000-acre sheep and cattle farm, which encompasses land reminiscent of Montana but plunges 800 feet straight into the sea.
