Neighbour to the seven-star Burj Al Arab, south of Dubai City, ‘the Arabian Resort of Dubai' deliberately resembles an ancient citadel with its ornate boutique hotels, lively souk and elegant courtyard summer houses. Collectively called Dar Al Masyaf, 29 summer houses lie secluded in enchanting landscaped gardens and waterways. Each sun-drenched villa-like summerhouse has 8 to 11 rooms - guests can book one room or the entire residence. All have private balconies or terraces with views of a white-sand Jumeriah beach and the water taxis gliding on the waterways below. The most exclusive (the Gulf suites) have private butler service and two wide balconies. Spacious, bright interiors make the most of the sunshine and seaside - expect high ceilings, light walls and neutral linens.
