The Art Deco-style Electra Palace Resort serves a fine slice of Rhodesian elegance. Metres from the private pebble sea front, near the pretty village of Trianta on the island's west coast, and well-versed in welcoming guests of all ages, it forms a safe base for a Greek family holiday.

Over 30 Family Suites are included among 310 modern rooms set over six floors and two buildings. All have a private balcony facing out over the romantic Aegean, the immaculate pool (surrounded by plenty of sun beds), or the lovely gardens.

For the kids, there's a friendly playground, a dedicated children's pool next to the excellent kids clubhouse for five to ten year olds, and a junior's club where teenagers can surf the net, throw darts, and play computer games. When a sporty mood strikes, there's archery, basketball, volleyball, yoga and tennis. The hotel offers 3 restaurants, with the main restaurant, The Grant, facing the sea serving an American breakfast and impressive buffets afternoon and evenings and children are well catered for. Cots, high chairs and childcare can be provided on request. Shows and live music are put on six days a week.

Rhodes' Old Town and the Temple of Aphrodite, dating back to the 3rd century BC, are a brief taxi ride away.
