Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque is set in subtropical gardens on the El Duque beach in Costa Adeje. It's a five-star enclave within a region of southern Tenerife that's popular with families, particularly at weekends when smart Spanish families flock from Madrid and Barcelona. Celebrities are fond of it, too - Fidel Castro and Mariah Carey's names can be found in the visitors' book. Behind the pastel-coloured, Victorian facade are 356 spacious rooms offering garden or sea views and room service 24/7 by excellent staff. There's masses for everyone to do. As well as a golden beach reached directly from the hotel, five swimming pools, beach sports, and fitness classes, there's archery, whale watching, giant chess and botanical walks. Not to mention the excellent new Bahia Del Duque Spa; surrounded by mature palms, its treatment cabanas are dotted between salt water pools and fragrant gardens that link to peaceful indoor crystal steam rooms, saunas and cool relaxation areas facing the plants and flowers.
Open daily, the Mini Club entertains guests aged three to twelve. There's also a babysitting service, and the resort's eight different restaurants offer menus for children.
The 40 separate villas designed by the prestigious interior decorator Pascua Ortega were opened in January 2008. Each of them has a private garden and pool in addition to separate reception area, butler service and B&O stereo equipment.
