La Sultana

The city's only five star boutique riad hotel, La Sultana Marrakech is in the heart of the golden triangle, at the entry of the Imperial City's walls, just next to the Royal Palaces and the famous Jemma El Fna.

All 21 sanctuary-like soundproofed rooms face onto the riad's characterful central patio, and are luxuriously furnished with king-size beds, antique furniture, art, marble, precious wood and copper - but not in a uniform way. Each room has a restful feel and look of its own, and opens open on to balconies or small courtyards where birds come to drink at the fountains. Room service is 24-hours.

The central spa offers a superb hammam, Jacuzzi, sauna, beauty centre, solarium, balneotherapy baths, a pool, and open-air massage cabins. Meanwhile, the heated ionised plunge pool on the magnificent huge rooftop terrace has been designed so that it's possible to read your book in it. Meals may be taken al fresco up here, overlooking the magical snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Terrasse du Marche counts duck foie gras half-cooked with local apples, and leg of lamb with honey tagine among its specialties. It has two distinguished dining rooms.
