Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi spreads over 60 acres of peaceful Chiang Mai paddy fields and exotic plantations in a recreated chiang - a self contained city. Guests cross a moat to approach the vast central square, above which tower golden domes, leading to a series of traditional Thai homes - ornate, palace-like structures and colonial mansions which faithfully represent architectural history. Guests stay in 123 private two-floor villas, colonial-style suites or the grand residences. Suites run the length of a white colonnade near the pool and lobby, and have large private verandas. Famed for their spaciousness, villas - some on stilts - provide an elegant living area on the ground floor, with the entire top floor as a bedroom and bathroom.
