Ever wondered which is the Bahamas' most famous five-star family resort? This is it. From its perfect setting down a long private drive on the eastern end of Paradise Island, opposite the harbour capital of Nassau, One&Only Ocean Club has been looking after the world's rich and famous for almost 50 years. Striking grounds, inspired by the romantic grandeur of Versailles, extend for a quarter of a mile on seven terraces. Personal butlers are on call 24-hours a day and daily treats include afternoon champagne and strawberries. Rooms and suites are divided among two wings and feature spacious balconies or patios with garden or sea views. Garden Cottages with a private bar and pillow menu offer the extra space families need.
At signature restaurant, Dune, New York super chef Jean-George Vongerichten reigns. Other award-winning wow factors include an 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf and an extraordinarily elegant Balinese-style One&Only Spa. At KidsOnly - a fully supervised programme for four to twelve year olds - daily activities include the Junkanoo Festival, a culinary academy with One&Only chefs and practical lessons with the resort's golf and tennis professionals. Thirteen to seventeen year olds can use the facilities between 3pm and 5pm, for a nominal fee. Not that they don't have enough to wow them at the awesome water-themed Atlantis resort nearby, home to the world's largest open air marine habitat and a mile-long water ride! There are specialist packages for families and mothers-to-be, certified childcare is available on request.
