Voyages Bedarra Island is one of Australia’s most exclusive resorts, lying just off the coast of Cairns near the Great Barrier Reef. It is perfect for couples and friends seeking barefoot luxury, absolute privacy and relaxation.
16 villas, hidden within the rainforest and close to the beach, cater for a maximum of 32 guests. The ultimate in comfort are the two contemporary pavilions where guests receive a delivery of ice and sunset canapés every afternoon. The generous use of timber and glass in their design lends itself to this spectacular vantage point over Wedgerock Bay.
Other highlights (views apart) include a custom designed ‘floating’ bed, an over-sized bathroom with shower and deep bath overlooking the rainforest, and a large outdoor deck with plunge pool and a daybed. The pavilions also have a plasma screen television, film and sound system and a computer.
The food is exquisite, too, at this all-inclusive resort. Overlooking the cascading pool is a terraced dining space; an intimate setting for à la carte meals. For tropical romance though, nothing surpasses a gourmet beach picnic.
While the focus on Bedarra Island is on peace and relaxation, there’s also much to enjoy, such as catamaran sailing, paddle-skiing, dinghy tours and diving trips to the Great Barrier Reef.

A maximum of just 32 guests are accommodated in 16 secluded villas, each hidden in the rainforest, only minutes from the beach. Superbly appointed, each has a separate living area, spacious bathroom and king size bed. On the balcony, relax and contemplate the beauty and calm of this elegant retreat.
Hillside Villas are situated close to the beachfront and central resort facilities. Set amongst the rainforest and offering tree-filtered water views, the double storey layout provides a sleeping area and bathroom at ground level, and upper level featuring living area with comfortable banquette seating, entertainment facilities, mini bar and a second toilet.
Designed to blend in with the beauty of their natural surroundings, each spacious villa is nestled into lush tropical rainforest, providing total privacy. Interiors are contemporary and comfortable with polished timber floors and furnishings in neutral colours with subtle marine accents. Bathrooms, including deep bath, are oversized and well stocked with signature Bedarra bath treats. A hammock is one of many special details villa accommodation offers, perfect for lazing the day away whilst enjoying sweeping views of Hernandia Bay and the neighbouring islands.
The cuisine is exquisite here. The tantalising menus change daily, with an emphasis on fresh seafood and exotic tropical produce. A popular lunch option is a romantic beach picnic with a gourmet hamper.
International Restaurant - An open terrace restaurant overlooks the cascading pool in an intimate setting for a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner, all of which are included in your tariff. The food is simply exquisite - a standard our guests demand - so there is a team of chefs and a new menu every day. The superb seafood is so fresh you could have caught it yourself.
In the evening, flawless service delivers a superb a la carte menu and every meal offers the freshest local produce in a delicious and original way. Breakfast is available from 8.00am, lunch from 1.00pm and dinner from 7.00pm.
Gourmet Picnic Hamper - A gourmet hamper and your own boat are the perfect excuse to slip away to a secluded bay on Bedarra Island. Gourmet picnic hampers for beachside outings are available on request daily.
Lounge - The resort's relaxed lounge features our well known self service bar which is comprehensively stocked with Australian and imported beers, along with Bollinger champagne, a quality selection of Australian wines, spirits and liqueurs. The bar is open 24 hours.
