Zeavola is one of the most luxurious boutique resorts in Thailand, blessed with a beach front setting on the quiet north-eastern tip of Phi Phi Don Island, an hour by speedboat from Krabi and Phuket. The welcome is touchingly warm. It is a gorgeous combination of rural Thai charm and five star comfort, with 48 spacious thatched suites made almost entirely of teak and glass, furnished with a sophisticated combination of traditional and contemporary pieces. Living areas are open on three sides, with motorised floor-to-ceiling bamboo blinds replacing the walls. A shower, lavishly stocked with all-natural (and all-Thai) Thann products stands discreetly outside. Guests in the beach front suites get the pleasure of their own garden. Those in the garden suites get extra living space and a garden designed for sun worshipping. Village suites are smaller, but again have their own delightful gardens. Zeavola’s two restaurants are Tacada, the place to relax and chat over an informal all-day Thai and international menu, and alfresco Baxil, serving national dishes in style. The resort has its own diving and water sports centre. And all (there’s rather a lot) of the holistic treatments offered at the vast, luxurious spa are suited to couples.
